BAUME & MERCIER – CLIFTON BAUMATIC

IN THE BIG LEAGUE

Baume & Mercier has made its mark with a new in-house calibre. Technological innovation helps to offer the best of present-day technology at a great price. Let’s take a closer look!

The Salon de la Haute Horlogerie 2018 was a landmark event in the long history of Baume & Mercier. During this event the company from the Richemont group presented its first in-house calibre with the participation of the manufacture from Val Fleurier: the Baumatic. This new self-winding movement contains some of the latest technological innovations. On the programme: precision and robustness! Hi-tech alloy for the barrel, a new generation escapement and a silicon spiral result in remarkable performances. The power reserve runs to 120 hours or 5 days. Chronometric accuracy varies between a 4-second loss and a 6-second gain. It can also resist magnetic fields up to 1,500 gauss, so the watch will resist radiation levels that are 25 times higher than regular mechanisms.

The Baumatic is a calibre, but also a collection of the same name, featuring a first Clifton model developed around a 40cm-wide steel case. On the dial, all the aesthetic attractions characterising Baume & Mercier are to be found. Whether in black or white, simplicity is in order. Slender hands point towards indices in the same style. A central second hand sets the standard for the elegant design, completed by a date counter at 3 o’clock.

Lastly, whether the Clifton Baumatic is worn with a steel or leather strap, the price remains attractive given the quality and performances on offer.
