Skeletonising is the brand’s aesthetic signature, but it is not just a leitmotiv: it sets the tone and harmonises technique and cutting-edge creativity. We take a closer look.

How to create a visual impact and be at the centre of attention. This is the feat accomplished by Hysek with the IO Skeleton Central Tourbillon, launched at the last Baselworld. Here, an alliance has been formed between the mechanism and the design to show off the brand’s spectacular skills. The dial has disappeared, giving way to a composition that has been honed with skilled craftsmanship. The aim? The unusual architecture gives the flying tourbillon, supported by a single lower bridge, unparalleled scope for expression. Its role is not limited to the practical effect of counteracting the effects of gravity. It plays both the leading role and directs the action in a decor similar to an amphitheatre. But that’s not all! Because this design is also a chance for the time information to break free from the need for traditional watch hands. One disc is used to display jumping hours and another for dragging minutes. The figures coated with Super-LumiNova® line up to provide intuitive and easy reading of the time.

The skeleton design of the components reveals myriad ways to show off the light in the 45mm pink gold case. The visible figures seem to swirl around in an empty space. And yet there are 316 components in the hand-wound movement. But due to the perfectly designed layout, they are all discreet. Once wound up, the calibre HW22 provides 45 hours of power reserve.
