PARMIGIANI – KALPA HEBDOMADAIRE | Watches News

GRAND CRU WATCHMAKING

Some watches mature with age. The Kalpa Hebdomadaire is one of them. Still powered by the same calibre, the 2018 version gains in elegance.

The calibre FP110 was the first manual-winding barrel-shaped movement created by Michel Parmigiani in 1998. While it includes all the traditional features – hour, minute, seconds, date and weekly power-reserve indicator – it is the last-named function that really impresses, thanks to the two barrels included as standard and providing an impressive eight days of autonomy! This movement has been part of the Kalpa watch collection since 2001. With this kind of performance, the calibre is still very much up to date, so it is understandable that it should be part of the new Kalpa Hebdomadaire, launched at the last Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva. The gold case has kept its original shape, but the lines have been redesigned to ideally fit the wrist. In the same spirit, the teardrop-shaped horns have been resized. The enlarged crown makes it easier to handle when you reset the watch.

On the dial, all the components are placed to provide a well-balanced effect. The various finishes – guilloché, blued and opaline – boost the readability of the time information on this refined piece. For the new version, the date counter has been separated from the running seconds, while above the dial are the emblematic, delta-shaped Parmigiani hour and minute hands.

The Kalpa Hebdomadaire comes with a black Hermès alligator leather strap with folding clasp. This elegant piece made by Parmigiani is ready to ride out all the fashions over the next decade.
